MESH Ontologies

An Ontology Infrastructure for multimedia news analysis and representation has been made publicly available. This Ontology Infrastructure was developed within the MESH project and includes, among others, a Multimedia Information Object Ontology and a Domain Ontology; the former is based on the Information Object Design Pattern that extends the DOLCE core ontology, while the latter is based on an extension of the IPTC tree for news categorization. Agreement for Joint Doctoral Research Theses between QMUL and CERTH

With the intention to develop scientific co-operation through the mobility of doctoral students, Queen Mary University of London and Centre for Research and Technology Hellas agreed to co-supervise doctoral research theses. Starting in 2009, MKLab of ITI, together with Multimedia and Vision Research Group of QMUL, are co-supervising doctoral students and are collaborating in Multimedia Analysis and Retrieval areas.

Call for Participation: 3rd VideOlympics Showcase Event at ACM CIVR ‘09 http://www.VideOlympics.org ACM International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval (ACM CIVR'09) July 8-10, 2009 Island of Santorini, Greece http://www.civr2009.org Demo sessions of video retrieval systems are ideal venues to disseminate scientific results. Existing demo sessions, however, fail to engage the audience fully. Real-time evaluation of several video retrieval systems in a single showcase increases impact. Encouraged by the success of previous editions, we will again organize a VideOlympics showcase at the 2009 ACM International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval.
